10 Reasons to Visit Ayvalık Küçükköy!

10 Reasons to Visit Küçükköy, Ayvalık!

We, at Enerjisa Enerji, joined forces with Sabancı University and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP Turkey). We established a green destination model with the Centre for Tourism Practices Based on Sustainable Energy (SENTRUM). We encourage sustainable tourism and support local economic development with the SENTRUM project.

We launched the first SENTRUM project in Küçükköy, Ayvalık. We transformed Küçükköy-Ayvalık to a center of change and transformation that we dreamed of.

What Did We Do?

• We invested TL 10 Million in transforming Küçükköy to a green destination.

• We established a solar energy system at the Küçükköy Culture Center and Necmi Komili Primary School. Thanks to the Solar Power Plant, the entire electricity requirement of the Küçükköy Culture Center and Necmi Komili Primary School are supplied by renewable energy.

• Energy is saved by preventing the consumption of 15,000 kg of coal per year in the region. Thanks to the renewable energy systems, ~90,000 kg of carbon emissions were avoided.

• We provided training to 140 people including high school students, local women and business owners regarding energy efficiency, sustainable tourism, waste management, climate change, and gender mainstreaming.

• We ensured transformation to energy-efficient equipment in tourism-related businesses. We supported 8 businesses in the region with energy-efficient lighting and white goods in line with their requirements..

• We staged ‘I Protect My Energy Children’s Play’ for more than 500 kids to raise awareness on energy efficiency.

• We designed and created a permaculture garden to support sustainable agriculture and raise awareness of visitors of the SENTRUM in the garden of the Creative Technologies Workshop of Sabancı University in Küçükköy.

• We developed a green purchasing and supply chain management strategy in the region in order to encourage environmentally-friendly transportation systems.

• While achieving all of these, we attached significance to gender mainstreaming and supported women’s empowerment.

• We provided training to young people and children regarding sustainability and prepared future generations for a greener and fairer world.

• We created hiking and cycling routes, as well as an energy route in Küçükköy.

We carried out green energy investments in Küçükköy and continue to endeavor for the tourism sector to generate less waste. We sustain our activities to empower local people and increase recruitment of women as part of the sustainable tourism goals. As part of our partnership with Sabancı University, we provide sustainability training to children and young people. We build a sustainable future from today!

What Was Our Goal?

What Was Our Goal?
